Host Runtime

Built for the person actually running the room.

The BIG Quiz runtime is shaped around fast, confident live operation: manual flow, optional templates, score entry, media playback, answer reveal, and audience-safe presentation.

Live Controls

The host can steer the night without fighting the software.

The source docs preserve flexible manual hosting as first-class. The app should handle question progression, answer reveal, timers, music, media, team management, tie-breakers, and scoreboards while keeping the audience display separate from host-only data.

The BIG Quiz host runtime concept with live controls, scoring events, timer, and audience display status

Runtime Detail

Fast controls, honest scoring, clean presentation.

Operator-safe control

Answers, host notes, mark schemes, scoring controls, and media controls stay in the operator view rather than leaking to the audience screen.

Timers and cues

Support for countdown presets, music sections, alerts, score-read music, waiting states, and final reveal flow is part of the product direction.

Scoring history

Scores should be derived from events, including full marks, half marks, partial credit, corrections, bonuses, and amendments.

Configurable mechanics

Power-up, Sabotage, and Gamble are planned as optional mechanics that hosts can disable or configure per quiz.

Offline-Ready Hosting

Live quiz flow must not depend on a network round trip.

Once required content is available locally, timers, question progression, answer reveal, music cues, media controls, score entry, and audience display state should remain usable offline during a live quiz.
